So I was listening to my favorite song of the moment “Your Body” by Christina “The Voice” Aguilera and I decided to take a peek at the Billboard Hot 100 to see how my girl’s song was doing. I was saddened to see that the song had peaked at number 34 and in its sixth week was down to number 60. The single, which was produced and co-written by hit maker Max Martin, is undoubtedly the hottest song to come out this year. It pushes the boundaries of what a dance single should be with its main focus being on those powerful vocals Chris delivers. She’s a judge on the hit show The Voice, she has a hot single and she still gets hated on non-stop. From her weight to her dress, the girl just can’t seem to catch a break and let’s not mention the many feuds she’s involved in. Actually, let’s!
In 1999 when the teen pop explosion was reaching its peak, Christina and Britney Spears were the perfect two blondes to pit against each other. Although both young women maintained they respected one another, it was clear that the media wasn’t going to let this one die. Chris really didn’t stand a chance going up against Pop Titan Britney and always came out looking like the looser. Later came feuds with Eminem, P!nk, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Osbourne, Scott Storch, Mariah Carey and Tony Lucca.
I guess Kelly isn’t the only Brit who is not X-Tina fan. After appearing on The Voice earlier this year, The British boy band The Wanted recounted their experience on the show and what came from it was that Aguilera is a “B—-“. They later back tracked, “We shouldn’t have said it, to be honest with you. We just think manners cost nothing, you know what I mean? The rest of the judges were really nice, and she didn’t even walk over to us and talk to us. We apologize for the comment.”
Christina has always talked about her rough child hood; from the violence she saw at home to the bullying she was subject to at school. I’m no psychologist but maybe this has made her somewhat guarded and when you have the media picking you apart every chance they get. Why would you let your guard down? One has to wonder what Christina has done to be hated so ferociously and basically ignored on the radio. The song is no less spectacular than some recent hits from Pink and Taylor Swift. Maybe it is her timing, her PR team or maybe Everybody Just Hates Chris.
